The Leaders Performance Institute has partnered with Formula E to challenge the performance technology space, with the chance to catapult your company to the forefront of the industry. This is the Innovation Lab 2018.
What’s in it for my start-up?
By taking part in the Innovation Lab challenge, you will benefit from:
1. The opportunity to engage and connect with Formula E, plus up to 300+ senior delegates at the Leaders Sport Performance Summit, London, November 12-13.
2. The chance to create something unique in order to solve a real-world challenge
3. An activation stand of your own at The Kia Oval for the two day event.
4. Brand exposure to up to 11,000 including 400 global sports practioners across the Leaders website and social channels in the lead up to the event.
Challenge: How can we use performance data to make insightful decisions, have the ability for it to be displayed better for coaches and players, and use it to engage with fans?
With a rigorous judging process to filter down applications from around the world, the 15 best solutions to the challenge in question will be chosen. Finalists will be invited to activate their company & pitch their idea to an expert judging panel at The Kia Oval on November 12-13, 2018, as part of The Sport Performance Summit, London.
The winning start-up will work directly with Formula E to develop their idea in order to tackle the challenge for real.Entry Criteria Application Form
Steve Gera is a former officer in the United States Marine Corps who has gone on to coach and scout in the National Football League, run multiple businesses, and teach sports leadership at top universities. He has worked with a number of world-class teams, such as the San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Real Madrid CF, Team Sky Cycling, Philadelphia 76ers, the Navy SEALs, and the United States Marine Corps.
Gera was one of the first NFL executives to implement a high performance model when he served as the Head of Innovation for the Cleveland Browns. He managed the daily operations of the team and coordinated all strategic advances in coaching, science, and technology. Before moving to Cleveland, Steve was an Assistant Coach and Football Analyst for the San Diego Chargers of the NFL. He joined the Chargers in 2007 where he worked in the Front Office as a salary cap, scouting, and player personnel specialist. He began coaching prior to the start of the 2007 season. He directed the Chargers analytics program and would go on to coach wide receivers, tight ends, and quarterbacks as an assistant. He has been a member of three Divisional Championship teams, and the 2007 AFC Championship team
Dr. Erez Morag has over 20 years experience in sport science and sports tech innovation. He is currently serving a dual role of the Chief Innovation Officer of Playermaker & CEO of Acceler8 Performance Ltd. Erez is the former Head of Global Football Research at Nike. His missions today are to develop and implement innovative sport technologies, and to translate scientific knowledge into practical performance solutions. Two major areas of focus are: “training above the neck” and “smart footwear”. The technologies are based on assessment and improvement of game abilities of professional and youth players. Ranging from the interaction of the foot with the ball, up to game vision and high-speed decision-making. During his career in the sport and fitness industry he was awarded 29 patents and has worked with top athletes including Ronaldo, Henry, Ronaldinho, Rooney, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and others.
Head of Research & Innovation
Associate Professor Sam Robertson has been the Head of Research & Innovation for the Western Bulldogs – Victoria University partnership since 2014, and was part of the Western Bulldogs 2016 Premiership. His joint role consists of overseeing sports science practice and research across both organisations.
Sam is most well known in sporting and academic circles for his work and research in the application of machine learning to improve decision-making. He has published more than 80 refereed scientific articles and prior to his current position held academic roles at Deakin University and Edith Cowan University.
