Arsenal Together

As the effects of the pandemic unfolded and lockdown restrictions were enforced, the Arsenal family came together in a variety of ways to support each other. Football had ceased, but the work of the club continued.

Arsenal was borne out of community in 1886 and this value of community and togetherness stands as true in 2020 as it did 134 years ago.

Players, legends and staff made regular calls to check in on our supporters; Arsenal in the Community adapted its programmes to keep our community engaged and cared for; the club recognised and supported the NHS and its local hospitals and Arsenal-supporting heroes contributed to the crisis in a number of ways, fighting the pandemic and supporting others  – everyone was playing their part in different ways.

The Arsenal Foundation set up an emergency fund for local charities and over £100,000 was pledged to bring over 180,000 meals and emergency supplies into our local boroughs. Over 2000 food parcels were delivered to vulnerable residents and when supporters understood the response, they wanted to be part of it too.

There was so much heart-warming and important work going on across the club and within its worldwide fan base, the idea of ‘Arsenal Together’ was to bring this energy and community spirit to one place to celebrate the best of Arsenal with each other and offer opportunities to donate if fans wished.  Our aim was to bring our fans together – in the absence of matches – and create ‘the biggest online gathering of players, supporters, legends and heroes.’

Hosted by comedian and lockdown hero, Matt Lucas, Arsenal Together was a 90 minute show, streamed on Arsenal.com, Facebook, YouTube and our app and brought together celebrities, heroes, our head coach and players to share how they fell in love with Arsenal and share their stories.
