Milwaukee Bucks General Manager Jon Horst, 37, is the second youngest of 30 general managers in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and oversees the team’s entire basketball operations.
Since becoming GM in 2017, Jon has restructured and reimagined the team’s basketball operations, while completing key free agent signings and impactful trades. Under Jon’s leadership, the Bucks have had a record of 160-77 in the regular season (.675) – including owning the top record in the NBA each of the last two seasons – while earning a position in the playoffs each of his three seasons. Following the 2018-19 season, Jon was named the NBA Executive of the Year.
A native of Sandusky, Michigan, Jon attended Rochester College where he played on the men’s basketball team that won back-to-back national championships. As a senior at Rochester, Jon began his NBA career as an intern with the Detroit Pistons before accepting a full-time position with the team upon graduation. Jon stayed with the Pistons until 2008, before being hired by the Bucks as Director of Basketball Operations. Over the next nine years in Milwaukee, Jon managed personnel evaluation, salary-cap management and contract negotiations before being promoted to general manager in 2017 at the age of 34, becoming the then-youngest general manager in the NBA.
