Abu Dhabi will host The Leaders Sport Business Summit for three years from 2019 to 2021 following an agreement between Leaders and Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) on Wednesday, 21 March 2018.
The event, set to take place in January 2019, will draw over 20 speakers from around the world to address a local and overseas audience.
Speaking at the press conference held in the host city, HE Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of ADSC, discussed how the Summit further strengthens the reputation of Abu Dhabi as a hub for hosting world-class sporting events, forums and conferences.
“We are delighted to host the summit that connects people in the industry and ideas resulting in the success of an event,” he said.
Simon Lau, Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer at Leaders, explained that Abu Dhabi is the newest addition to The Sport Business Summit Series and will sit alongside the established events that Leaders host around the world.
“The new event will sit alongside our other premium sports industry summits in New York, London, and Beijing, so that we now offer a series that is both top-level in terms of the on-stage discussions and the delegates who attend, and genuinely global in scope.” he said.
“Abu Dhabi has become a global destination, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council is using sport strategically to build Abu Dhabi into one of the world’s sporting capitals.
We’re pleased to be working with ADSC to put together a platform and a programme that will enable best practice knowledge sharing and, ultimately, drive the sports industry forward.”
