We are also looking at how to better analyse and track the attributes and qualities of those who are already performing at the highest level.<\/li>\n<li>There is a challenge and an opportunity in elite organisations when it comes to better aligning research &amp; development departments with those driving the player development to create a better flow when reviewing and tracking the relevant metrics.<\/li>\n<li>Strategy can be broken down into performance strategy for what occurs on the pitch and then organisational strategy.<\/li>\n<li>In European football, talent is signed on very early \u2013 monitoring, measuring and evaluating this has been analysed well in subjective terms, but bringing objectivity into this equation and embedding it is a big challenge.<\/li>\n<li>Organisationally, we try to build a really strong capacity and breadth of skills which can potentially support us in the future.<\/li>\n<li>Strategy can be challenging in the respect that we have a lot them within our organisations, but how can we make them simple enough for our people to actually deliver them, but detailed enough so they can add value?<\/li>\n<li>Getting people to buy-into behavioural change and helping them understand how that aligns to what they want to do when they go out onto the field \u2013 so creating an environment where they are connected in understanding group strategy is paramount.<\/li>\n<li>When the plan has been created and signed off, it is owned by the coach to adapt themselves, so it is very much part of their planning cycle.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018What does it take to win?\u2019 This is a nice way to frame a strategy right at the very beginning and building in the benchmarks and pillars within this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Balancing subjective and objective measurement in player development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From an analytics team point of view, our strategy is really to better support the coaches and dive a little deeper into supporting what they are seeing.<\/li>\n<li>We need to work on adapting our strategies and models if we want to think about development more holistically \u2013 it needs to fit the shape of what we mean by that holistic nature. The next question is how do we make that more specific whether it is age, position etc. and at what point do we starting using objective measures?<\/li>\n<li>We need to be better at understanding the challenges of those \u2018who are on the ground\u2019 and providing them with solutions and ideas on how to support them.<\/li>\n<li>Consider empowering individuals to have their own strategy, which is then adapted to the context they are in. What are your beliefs and purpose \u2013 and then ensuring they are really clear on that.<\/li>\n<li>You need to create a framework to develop accountability around the framework assessment with the coaches. In football some of these assessments can include: technical consistency, effectiveness, attitude &amp; energy \u2013 the coaches score these 1-4 after every game which creates a consistent scoring mechanism. This is a solid way is combining gut feel and intuition with the objective assessments the coaches have scored.<\/li>\n<li>To make these even more effective, have your coaches create these frameworks so there is an air of accountability from their side \u2013 it can create a better buy-in across the relevant departments.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement scores that are used as an internal resource should be combined in the external recruiting process as well. Using the same scoring to cross-reference brings about a more holistic perspective.<\/li>\n<li>There are lots of opportunities in how we create better conversations with what our scouts etc. are seeing and the data we have \u2013 often when scouting we are looking at the differences in what people see as this can provide a potential competitive advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Lean on your senior coaches who are potentially more up-skilled to share some of their conscious thought processes.
