1. Matt \u2013 what are you up to next week? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re excited to head to the Midlands for our event at Loughborough University on 20-21 September. We\u2019ll be exploring all things Interdisciplinary Performance Support. The agenda is here<\/a>, and you can sign up here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. Is mental ill-health a problem for coaches working in elite sport?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

It appears so. According to research conducted in 2020, and published in July this year, found more than 40% of coaches from Olympic sports surveyed reported mental health symptoms at a level that would warrant professional treatment<\/a>. But fewer than 6% reported seeking treatment at the time. They need our support, not stigma.<\/p>\n

3. What\u2019s the neglected trait that drives success?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Curiosity. Intrigued? Here are some reasons<\/a> why it can be incredibly good for your mind, with benefits for learning, creativity and even job enjoyment.<\/p>\n

Focus isn\u2019t a light switch you can turn on and off whenever you want to. It\u2019s something you have to practise every day \u2013 here are some tips on how to do so<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unless we know why someone made a decision, we can\u2019t safely change it or conclude that they were wrong. Observe it in full. Note how it interconnects with other aspects, including ones that might not be linked to you personally. Learn how it works, and then<\/em> propose your change<\/a>.<\/p>\n
