Ars\u00e8ne Wenger\u2019s departure from Arsenal in May unleashed a wealth of tributes from well beyond the red half of north London to every corner of the globe.<\/h4>\n

Even those who found themselves on the opposite side during Wenger\u2019s 22 years at the Gunners recognised the Frenchman\u2019s achievements in winning while playing some of Europe\u2019s finest football and developing some of the continent\u2019s brightest talents. Nevertheless, the aesthetic values that Wenger\u2019s best sides have always embodied in their football, their ability to win with style and panache, has brought as much anguish to the Frenchman as it brought joy to his admirers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a bit of perfectionist. That means I am an unhappy person who suffers every day,\u201d he tells Performance <\/i><\/em>for our cover story. That search for perfection, the unattainable, has never dimmed in Wenger and goes some way to explaining his longevity in a managerial career that still has some distance left to run. He has never stopped questioning, never stopped reflecting on where he could be better and that, combined with his considerable resume, makes him a voice of authority on the state of the modern game.<\/p>\n
