It\u2019s good to hear from respective individuals in the group away from the staff.<\/li>\n<li>During this period, are you using this as an opportunity to pressure test your culture?<\/li>\n<li>How can you create a platform for players of differing experiences to share with each other.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><b>1. Group Challenges: Impacts of the Current Climate on Team Work &amp; Collaboration<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most are entirely new to remote working. How to make interaction successful?<\/li>\n<li>This kind of collaboration is so abnormal \u2013 learning how to portray consistent messages to the players. How do we get better over the hiatus?<\/li>\n<li>Communication across mini teams within the collective organisation. Challenges of messaging fatigue and how to not overdo it but to remain consistent.<\/li>\n<li>The dissemination of information \u2013 coaches want skill, S&amp;C physical. Fostering engagement.<\/li>\n<li>How can we continue to collaborate as a staffing unit \u2013 trying to incorporate staff into communication with the players?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><b>2. Dissemination of Information \u00a0<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An opportunity for education through one-on-one training. Spend more time working with the athletes individually rather than looking towards more group-based training sessions.<\/li>\n<li>The utilisation of communication through social networks such as WhatsApp and Instagram has proved effective for quick and snappy messages. Has seen a positive impact of communication flow.<\/li>\n<li>Using these channels to create videos of specific training programmes and skill-based practice to share that is easily accessible.<\/li>\n<li>A lesson learnt is that there is a challenge around the expectation of compliance with regards to day-to-day communication channels and their effectiveness.<\/li>\n<li>Setting up collective sessions is working;and consider using your leadership group to reinforce.<\/li>\n<li>Provide clear, non-negotiable structure. Start off simple by using day-to-day practice schedule and then look to stretch this out to weekly once it has become normal and you have that buy-in.<\/li>\n<li>Create opportunities for the athletes to be able to have Q&amp;A with staff and the leadership team. Foster that inclusiveness and support culture<\/li>\n<li>The importance of observation and paying attention to what athletes are asking and what they aren\u2019t asking. Observe the behaviour of those athletes, you can understand a lot about individuals \u2013 look for where there might be opportunity.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain your culture, standards and commitments whilst we are remote.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><b>3. Making Collaboration Work<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find out what other coaches need even if you are in different disciplines. Look to foster multi-disciplinary working.<\/li>\n<li>Minimising information overload by delegating as quickly as possible is important \u2013 ensure that the athletes receive information from as little people as possible.<\/li>\n<li>Separate coaching teams out and have an allocation of those that you need to contact and speak to keep communication lines simple and easier to manage.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s a huge challenge with information overload in this current climate, people feel like they have to keep communicating.<\/li>\n<li>Obvious challenges with keeping positivity and motivation.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t disregard collaboration between athletes as well \u2013 we often think about this as staff. How can you create a platform for players of differing experiences to share with each other?<\/li>\n<li>Keep your leadership present with the players and staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><b>4. Group Takeaways<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Being really clear on structure for communication, when it\u2019s going to happen and guarding against over-communication.<\/li>\n<li>If we are going to get a competitive advantage how can we do it? How can we emerge better? How can we use this climate as an opportunity to be creative?<\/li>\n<li>Sustaining energy. Get really creative and change it up to keep positivity and motivation.<\/li>\n<li>Athletes are always at the forefront of our minds, but it\u2019s so important to consider staff as well.<\/li>\n<li>Observe staff and athletes more regularly vs. just delivering information.<\/li>\n<li>Turn this situation into a positive \u2013 more time to talk to players one-on-one about specific elements of performance and questions they may have.<\/li>\n<li>Strive to maintain culture.<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of communication overload and be clear on instruction and schedule to everyone.<\/li>\n<li>Utilise the leaders in your respective sport as drivers \/ motivators.<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity for us to pressure test our culture. The competitive advantage is showing players and staff what we value just like we do in-season.<\/li>\n<li>This time period is not &#8216;doomsday\u2019 \u2013 use it to have better engagement with athletes. Using leadership group to help maintain culture without being face to face.<\/li>\n<li>Find the balance between being a resource wanted vs. a resource given.<\/li>\n<li>Ask the individual athletes what is working for them.<\/li>\n<li>Be creative with social channels, which is popular and easy-access for athletes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><b>\u00a05. Six<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>\u00a0Key Features of Collaboration in a Crisis<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Clarity of focus.<\/p>\n<p>2. Responsibility of freedom.<\/p>\n<p>3. One team ethos.<\/p>\n<p>4. High psychological safety.<\/p>\n<p>5. People ask for help.<\/p>\n<p>6. Regular review meetings, formal and informal.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>\u00a06.<\/b><\/strong><strong><b> Five Factors Which Hinder Team Performance<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Contribution is determined by personality.<\/p>\n<p>2. Groupthink.<\/p>\n<p>3. Politeness gets in the way of important conversations.<\/p>\n<p>4. Tribal \u2013 we are naturally less open with people we see as a part of a different group.<\/p>\n<p>5. Lack of strategic focus.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>7.
