In this session, we explored the art of team building, in particular how to approach the task of building from scratch. Proud of tradition but willing to take chances, make mistakes. That\u2019s how you learn. That\u2019s reflective of our owner, and now of our coach. \u2018Every detail is important\u2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aligning a culture: <\/strong>Communication is key to spreading that culture across the whole conversation &#8211; from coaching to the finance department. If they understand what the end goal is, then the alignment is there.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What is a Carolina Panther: <\/strong>We\u2019re building right now, we\u2019re a young organization. But what we want is people to try new things. The most important thing is that we\u2019re a learning organization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Getting the right fit: <\/strong>The recruitment piece is something that you can\u2019t underestimate. Getting people in the building &#8211; from the Head Coach to the Head of Marketing &#8211; who are bought in, is so integral to the long-term vision.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Doing it the right way: <\/strong>We want to win by doing things correctly, and our way. Finding talent that nobody else can. Being value led in all our decision making.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Thinking Points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>At the start of everything, the vision is key. Once you have this, you need to have the best people to start on that journey. Consider these three C\u2019s: Capital, Competence, Concept when implementing that vision.<\/li>\n<li>Culture comes before performance and not the other way around. To have a long-term sustainable and high performing team, it\u2019s crucial that the culture is right first. Get the right people on the bus with aligned values and behaviors.<\/li>\n<li>When building a team, consider a higher cause and purpose. It is crucial to get staff and players to buy in and impact the culture as well as continuing to answer the question: \u2018why are we doing this\u2019?<\/li>\n<li>Give your people freedom to challenge the status quo and bring new ideas to the table. To do that, hire people who are smarter than you who also have diverse backgrounds and knowledge to spark that creativity.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure everyone is open and that there isn\u2019t a closed door in your environment.
