In this session, we explored the art of team building, the importance of identity in high performing organisations and evolutionary thinking.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW73773361 BCX4\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Session Illustration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26752\" src=\"\/app\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/Die-Rotten-Bullen.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"5588\" height=\"8097\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Key Takeaways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alignment: \u201cCreating synergies between the clubs was something we worked really hard on. We wanted to have a consistency across a number of different areas, as it was integral to organisational alignment.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Identity: \u201cThe formation has nothing to do with our style of play. We made sure that \u2018being proactive\u2019 is a value that is overarching all our clubs and teams at all age groups.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>People: \u201cValues and characteristics were very important when recruiting both coaches and players \u2013 we needed players who were ready to be part of change and a project. We also had an Owner who had trust in the process, so managing that relationship up is so important in a leadership role like mine.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Vision: \u201cAt the start of everything, you need a vision. Then you need to have the best people to start on that journey. Three C\u2019s: Capital, Competence, Concept. All crucial to implementing your vision.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Support: \u201cFrom the head coach, to the bus driver to the sporting director \u2013 all the jobs are to be the service provider. Our job is to be able to support the athletes and make them as good as they can be. We scouted for every role in the organisation \u2013 chefs, video analysts, coaches \u2013 it was so important to get the best people aligned through the organisation.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Ambition: \u201cWe worked a lot on the leadership, and the future leadership of Red Bull. Rather than an easy and maybe more stable decision, we have been ambitious in deciding who will lead not just now, but in the future too.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Leadership: \u201cHead Coach vs. Sporting Director: The head coach is the most important person in the club. So, as a leader and Sporting Director, my job is to support the Head Coach. As a Head Coach, your focus is on the next game (short game), while a Sporting Director is setting the organisation up for the future (long game).\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Thinking Points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Calibri,Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"16\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There needs to be clarity on what your club stands for. Too often, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">with every change of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">H<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ead <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">oach<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> or Director<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the corporate identity and behaviour <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also changes<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> High performing organisations need an ingrained identity.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Calibri,Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"16\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Think about what it will take to be successful in the future, because we all have a cognitive bias with the moment we are in<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> &#8211; <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">we\u2019re influenced by the challenges, pressures and obstacles of what is holding us back n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ow.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Calibri,Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"16\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Athletes and players need clear rules. It\u2019s not enough to tell them what they can\u2019t do and have to do. You have to convince them that adhering to the rules works for them and then get them to buy into that so it is a case of peer pressure rather than \u2018boss pressure\u2019.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Calibri,Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"16\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">You have to identify what it is you\u2019re trying to recruit. You have to be really clear in terms of what you are looking for. The core elements to look for are knowledge, skills, experience and behaviour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Calibri,Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"16\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Create a culture of learning.
