Brad elaborated on how Delta Air Lines think about processes and approaches for effective debriefing, evaluation of performance from a best practice perspective and the measurement and effectiveness of objectives versus outcome.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Key Takeaways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In any successful environment or culture, debriefing is integral. How you give feedback on the wins, losses and everything in between is so important to making progress.<\/li>\n<li>From the minute that the game or match ends, you should be evaluating and measuring its success and how it was effective in line with your game plan and performance objectives.<\/li>\n<li>It shouldn\u2019t just be the leader who debriefs \u2013 having an effective peer-to-peer debriefing structure in place can be powerful, and in turn creates trust amongst your staff.<\/li>\n<li>OODA: Observe, Orientation, Decide, Act. It\u2019s a military term that, in the world of sport, can really help to define how you analyze and evaluate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Thinking Points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Debriefing needs to be a mainstay of your organizational culture. It\u2019s crucial to create and recreate the environment.<\/li>\n<li>From the moment the game, flight or mission ends, are you evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of the game plan against the desired performance objectives?<\/li>\n<li>How do you use peer to peer debriefing? It\u2019s a really effective tool to drive powerful learning points and creates an environment of trust, which then leads to positive vulnerability.<\/li>\n<li>Before we begin thinking about debriefing and evaluation, in the planning stage, consider the concept of \u2018Red Teaming\u2019 to disrupt and challenge assumptions. This can give you a more rounded plan in the initial instance.<\/li>\n<li>Have you considered the military concept of the \u2018OODA Loop\u2019 in a sporting context: Observe (The Environment), Orientation (Yourself), Decide (Environment vs. Yourself), Act (Performance)?
