most coveted leaders in Mark Shapiro and Thomas Dimitroff shared their insights into culture, recruitment, driving world-class alignment and developing people across an organization.<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Key Takeaways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leadership starts with humility.<\/li>\n<li>Create a culture of learning. This enables us to go out and hire the people that would fit our philosophy of continuing to learn and get better every day.<\/li>\n<li>Hiring is one of the single most important things you can do as a leader. It\u2019s an opportunity to improve your organization, your culture and your standards. Our organization\u2019s makeup is of \u2018Positive, Passionate, Persevering\u2019 people.<\/li>\n<li>To have a culture of trustworthiness, there has to be an understanding that we\u2019re all in it together. How do you have trust if you don\u2019t have shared consciousness?<\/li>\n<li>When thinking about coach development, we mic\u2019d our coaches up and had a drone film them in Spring Training. That gave them the opportunity to look back and see how they could improve. It was really productive.<\/li>\n<li>To build alignment all the way from the owners to the players, you need trust and connectivity. We as leaders do better when everyone in the organization does better!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Thinking Points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>With regards to bringing in new talent, make sure their character and values are in check before you bring them in as a player. It\u2019s about believing you can win with very good players that don\u2019t always have to be the best talent.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t underestimate the importance of understanding all the personality traits of those that are working around you. You need to have a really good understanding of the people who have a vested interest in the organization, from coaches to shareholders.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Get better every day\u2019 \u2013 as organizational mission statements go, it\u2019s a simple one, but it\u2019s powerful and scalable.<\/li>\n<li>When a senior leader displays a desire to learn \u2013 asking questions rather than issuing diktats \u2013 it shows that one driving issue is there: you need to get better. Learning culture spreads across organization.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s always been about finding 100 incremental efficiencies; it can\u2019t be about one leader, one person, one decision, one player, or one performance.
