autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe>\n                                    <\/div>\n                            \n                            \n                                                            <div class=\"es-section__text content-area\">\n                                    <p><h4>Team Porsche wrote themselves into motorsport history with their three-consecutive titles at the 24 hours of Le Mans between 2015 and 2017.<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Stephen Mitas, the Chief Race Engineer, was a crucial part of the team during that run and <a href=\"https:\/\/leadersinsport.com\/performance\/summit-session-how-porsche-dominated-the-worlds-most-challenging-motor-race\/\">spoke at length about using data in motorsport<\/a> onstage at the 2018 Leaders Sport Performance Summit in London alongside the team&#8217;s Head of Team Management, Carlo Wiggers.<\/p>\n<p>Data is an essential component of the team&#8217;s design, engineering and performance, but does that reach fever pitch on a race weekend?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Data during race weekends is primarily used for validation purposes,&#8221; says Mitas. &#8220;We do a lot of testing and training and we learn more in those phases; we learn through our processes how to use data to train drivers, how to use data to identify problems, and how to optimise the car.
