We explored lessons in nurturing talent through the performance pathway with our hosts IMG Academy and MLB\u2019s Toronto Blue Jays. Also on the agenda was performance enablement, fostering vulnerability, trust and feedback and creating an all-encompassing high performance environment.<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Key Takeaways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Behaviours are hugely determined by the environment in which we learn, as much as 70% in fact. So are you actively looking to promote your end goal to your athletes within your learning culture? You should be.<\/li>\n<li>How do you deal with an athlete\u2019s uniqueness? You should be fostering it, not using rules around your culture and environment to stifle those rogue and rare talents.<\/li>\n<li>To develop athletes in a truly holistic way, it\u2019s hugely important to improve the knowledge of those talent identifiers and developers.<br \/>\nBuilding men of character is a big piece. How? 1. Respect for themselves. 2. Respect for their team. 3. Respect for women. 4. Respect for authority.<\/li>\n<li>How to empower female athletes? 1. Enhancing concepts of confidence. 2. Developing a presence. 3. Improving body language.<br \/>\nYou need to understand your athletes. No excuses. If you don\u2019t understand their mannerisms and learning techniques, how are you able to truly develop them and have a positive impact?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Thinking Points<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. How much do you focus on becoming a \u2018student of your pupils?\u2019 It\u2019s crucial that you get to understand them and their learning techniques, then you are able to better individualise almost everything you do to positively impact that holistic development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Do you have creative processes in place to encourage your personnel to grow? The highest performing organizations encourage people to take time to operate outside of their environment to help stimulate new thinking and holistically develop their skillsets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. Do you foster uniqueness in your talent? There is always the potential in high performing environment to become ingrained in that environment that can lead to losing touch of your individual uniqueness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. To holistically develop our athletes, it\u2019s crucial to enhance the knowledge of the individuals responsible for unearthing and developing that talent.
