The biggest challenge is understanding what will give an organization a competitive advantage. This session, from the Leaders Sport Performance Summit in Los Angeles, explored how to evaluate potential new technologies, and consequently efficient processes for implementation, as well as touching on what investors and decision-makers look for in a new exciting opportunity.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Thinking Points<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) are a type of measurement used to assess the maturity level of a particular technology.<\/p>\n<p>Each technology project is evaluated against the parameters for each technology level and is then assigned a TRL rating based on the projects progress. TRL 1 is the lowest and TRL 9 is the highest. Can you apply this to your sport?<\/p>\n<p><strong>NASA\u2019s Steps to Technological Readiness:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Basic principles observed &amp; reported<\/p>\n<p>2. Technology concept and\/or application formulated<\/p>\n<p>3. Analytical and experimental critical function and\/or characteristic proof-of concept<\/p>\n<p>4. Component and\/or breadboard validation in laboratory environment<\/p>\n<p>5. Component and\/or breadboard validation in relevant environment<\/p>\n<p>6. System \/ subsystem model or prototype demonstration in a relevant environment<\/p>\n<p>7. System prototype demonstration in a space environment<\/p>\n<p>8. Actual system completed and \u2018flight qualified\u2019 through test and demonstration<\/p>\n<p>9.
