Márquez promoted at Las Palmas

Manuel Márquez is the new Head Coach of Spanish La Liga side UD Las Palmas. The 48-year-old, who had been serving as Head Coach of the club’s B-team, takes the role vacated by Quique Setién in May.

Ruff recruited by the Rangers

The New York Rangers have hired veteran NHL coach Lindy Ruff to serve as Assistant Head Coach to Alain Vigneault. The 57-year-old, who has previously coached the Buffalo Sabres and the Dallas Stars, ranks fourth in the all-time list of regular season games coached.

De Bruin steps up for the Lions

Swys de Bruin has been appointed Head Coach of Johannesburg-based Super Rugby side the Lions. The 57-year-old, who has been with the team as an assistant coach since 2013, is the successor to the departing Johan Ackermann.

Whiffin wings his way to Gloucester

Gloucester Rugby have confirmed Richard Whiffin as the Head of Academy at the English Premiership Rugby club. The former London Irish coach joined Gloucester in the summer of 2016 and replaces Neil McCarthy, who left at the end of last season.


India anoint Shastri

Ravi Shastri has been appointed Head Coach on the India men’s national cricket team on a two-year deal. The 55-year-old former India international previously served as the side’s Director between 2014 and 2016.


Papua New Guinea plump for Gillespie

Jason Gillespie has agreed to become the Head Coach of the Papua New Guinea men’s national cricket team on an interim basis. The Australian replaces Dipak Patel as the nation looks to qualify for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
