Lions land Patricia
The Detroit Lions have confirmed the appointment of Matt Patricia as their new Head coach. The 43-year-old leaves his post as Defensive Coordinator of the New England Patriots to assume his first head coaching role. Patricia replaces Jim Caldwell, who departed at the end of the regular season.
Titans bolster ranks
New Tennessee Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel has made a series of additions to his coaching staff. Miami Dolphins’ Terrell Williams arrives as Defensive Line Coach, while Keith Carter, most recently with the Atlanta Falcons, takes over as Offensive Line Coach. The duo is joined by Tony Dews, who is the Titans’ new Running Backs Coach.
Rutgers ring for Campanile
Rutgers has hired Nunzio Campanile as Running Backs Coach, replacing Lester Erb in the role. He arrives from Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey.
Seedorf signs with Deportivo
Clarence Seedorf becomes the third person this season to be appointed Head Coach of La Liga’s Deportivo La Coruña. The 41-year-old Dutchman was in situ just 32 hours after the dismissal of Cristobal Parralo.
Koeman named by Netherlands
Ronald Koeman has been appointed Head Coach of the Netherlands men’s national team. The 54-year-old former Dutch international replaces his compatriot Dick Advocaat, who stepped down in November.
Italy instate di Biagio on interim basis
The Italian Football Federation has named Luigi di Biagio as the Interim Head Coach of their senior men’s national team. The 46-year-old former Italy international fills the role vacated by Gian Piero Ventura for forthcoming matches with England and Argentina.
Mitchell joins RB Leipzig
German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have confirmed the appointment of Paul Mitchell as their new Head of Recruitment and Development. The move represents the 36-year-old Englishman’s first role in football since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2016.
Hurricanes promote Plumtree
John Plumtree has been confirmed as the Head Coach of Super League franchise, the Wellington-based Hurricanes. The 52-year-old, who previously served as Forwards Coach, replaces the departing Chris Boyd.
Zimbabwe hire de Villiers
Former Springboks coach Pieter de Villiers has been appointed Head Coach of the Zimbabwe men’s national team. The 60-year-old South African had been working with the Sable’s Under-20s side and has now been tasked with leading his adopted nation to the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Bosc back at Catalans
Super League side Catalans Dragons have appointed former player Thomas Bosc as Assistant Coach. The recently retired 34-year-old, who represented Catalans 243 times between 2006 and 2017, will work under Head Coach Steve McNamara.
Malinga the mentor
Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga will serve as a bowling mentor for India Premier League (IPL) franchise the Mumbai Indians. The 34-year-old, who was not purchased during the 2018 IPL auction, is the leading wicket-taker in the competition’s history.
