In 2019, Formula 1 set out its ambitious sustainability, diversity, and inclusion strategy to improve the long-term future of our sport. This included our commitment to be net zero carbon by 2030 and to deliver all our races as sustainable events by 2025.
We have put in place the necessary actions, reviews, and structures to ensure we deliver on our strategy, achieving the highest level of FIA Environmental Accreditation in 2020. F1 has also signed up to the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action Framework and is a founding member of the Albert Sports Consortium.
For 70 years F1 has been at the forefront of automotive technology and from 2025 our new generation of F1 cars will be powered by our incredibly advanced Hybrid engines and 100% advanced sustainable fuels. We see a clear role for sustainable fuels to not only reduce the environmental impact of all new and existing ICE based road-cars globally (over 1 billion cars), but also to have a potential impact on some of the largest emitting sectors of heavy road transport, shipping and aviation.

F1 has also made great strides in reducing its carbon footprint from logistics, becoming the first sports production with a UHD Remote operation deployed globally, reducing travelling staff by a third and saving over 70 tonnes of technical cargo per race (over 5,500t CO2e every year).
As a sport we are committed not only to improving our own environmental impact, but also being a force for good, inspiring change with our suppliers, stakeholders and our 500m+ fans worldwide.
