    Co-hosting the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup 2023 provided Football Australia with an unparalleled opportunity to entertain the world through women\u2019s football. Hosting allowed them to tap into national excitement and the unique entertainment opportunities that come with hosting one of the world’s largest sporting tournaments.<\/p>\n

    Football Australia understood that the Matildas\u2019, the women\u2019s national team, had the power to inspire and captivate a diverse audience. Leveraging this insight, they created moments that thrilled existing fans and attracted newcomers to the sport. One significant initiative was launching the docuseries \u201cMatildas: The World at Our Feet\u201d on Disney+ ahead of the tournament.     Complementing this was the integrated campaign \u201c\u2018Til It\u2019s Done,\u201d which voiced the team\u2019s ambitions for the World Cup. This campaign connected Australians with the team\u2019s goals for a tournament played on home soil for the first time. A well-executed multi-platform content strategy surrounded the FIFA WWC 2023, providing the public with unprecedented behind-the-scenes content throughout the event. As a result, the Matildas\u2019 social media following surged by 145% during the tournament, with social media impressions up 88% from the previous FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

    The tournament emerged as the most successful women\u2019s World Cup ever, exceeding all pre-tournament targets for attendance and viewership and delivering significant benefits for the women\u2019s national team.<\/p>\n

    To ensure the lasting impact of the tournament, Football Australia launched the Legacy \u201823 Plan. This plan aimed to sustain the learnings, experiences, and impacts beyond the tournament’s end. It set an ambitious target of achieving 50:50 gender participation by 2027, striving to be the first community sport to reach gender parity, with an incremental increase of 400,000 women and girls joining the football community.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/div>\n \n \n \n <\/div>\n
