Leaders welcomes Atlanta Braves Mental Skills Coach to Performance Summit
A leading sports psychologist, Geoff joins Arsène Wenger, Manager, Arsenal FC; Andy Flower, Technical Director of Elite Coaching, ECB; Raymond Blanc, two star Michelin Chef at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons restaurant; and Diego Masciaga, Director and General Manager of the 3 Michelin starred Waterside Inn restaurant, as the latest addition to the speaker line-up for the international event.
At the Atlanta Braves, Geoff ensures the team are mentally prepared throughout a hectic schedule of more than 160 games a year – one of the most mentally demanding schedules in world sport. Working on what he calls the ‘intangibles’, he helps elite athletes with the things that are pretty much impossible to measure quantitatively and objectively – such as confidence focus, will, desire, and preparation.
Geoff is also critical in the player recruitment process alongside the team’s scouts and front office. Through psychological evaluations he helps profile potential draft selections, and has previously worked with other MLB teams including the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals, as well as football and basketball players.
Widely renowned as an expert in the world of sports psychology, Geoff joins the 6th edition of the Sport Performance Summit to talk to 600 leading GMs, Head Coaches, Sporting Directors, Presidents and Performance Directors, about how he helps some of sport’s most elite athletes cope with the demands of life both on and off the field.
James Worrall, CEO, Leaders, commented: “Being an athlete today requires more than just physical training. The mental demands are intense and the work that Geoff does is crucial to maintaining players’ health and performance. Exploring some of the difficult to define qualities that can make or break an athlete’s career, Geoff will provide a brilliant insight into the world of mental preparation.”
