Helen Richardson-Walsh MBE won her first England cap in 1999, and made her Olympic debut at Sydney 2000 – becoming the youngest female hockey player to represent Team GB at an Olympic Games. Further Olympic appearances followed in Beijing and London, winning bronze on home soil in 2012 and captaining the team for two games after regular skipper – and now wife – Kate Richardson-Walsh broke her jaw.
In 2016, she helped the women’s hockey team to an historic first Olympic gold medal, scoring one of Team GB’s two penalties in the final shootout. Richardson-Walsh was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2017 New Year’s Honours List for services to hockey.
Since retiring from international hockey Helen has completed a Master’s degree in Psychology, and currently works as a Performance & Culture Coach for the Women’s 1st Team at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
