What Makes a Great Team Tick?

Fostering individual roles to stimulate collective performance.

In all team sports, the focus on one’s individual performance to positively impact the collective performance cannot be understated. A perfect example of this notion is the Ryder Cup. Golf is a sport that champions individual excellence, but in the heat of the Ryder Cup battle, collective performance is what lifts the trophy on Sunday afternoon. ‘The best teamwork comes from those individuals who are working individually towards one goal in unison’. These were the words etched onto the wall in Team Europe’s meeting room at Gleneagles.
