Stuttgart send for Weinzierl
The German Bundesliga’s VfB Stuttgart have appointed Markus Weinzierl as Head Coach two days after sacking Tayfun Korkut. Weinzierl, who has been out of work since leaving Schalke in the summer of 2017, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Jurić joins Genoa
Ivan Jurić has been appointed Head Coach of Italian Serie A club Genoa for the third time. The 43-year-old Croatian replaces the departing Davide Ballardini with immediate effect.
Chievo calls for Ventura
Gian Piero Ventura is the new Head Coach of Italian Serie A side Chievo Verona. The former Italy men’s national team boss has signed a two-year contract at the Stadio Bentegodi.
Almeyda hired by San Jose
Matias Almeyda has been hired to take over as Head Coach of the MLS’ San Jose Earthquakes. Interim Head Coach Steve Ralston will continue for the duration of the 2018 before the Argentine takes over ahead of the 2019 season.
Villa appoint Smith and Terry
Dean Smith has been named as Head Coach of English Championship side Aston Villa, with the recently-retired defender John Terry coming in as his assistant. Smith joins from Villa’s Championship counterparts Brentford.
Neilson named by Dundee United
Robbie Neilson has been appointed Head Coach of Scottish Championship side Dundee United until the end of the season. The 38-year-old replaces Csaba László after the club’s inauspicious start to the season.
Ireland call for Keenan
Mark Keenan is set to be Head Coach of the Ireland men’s basketball team. He will assume the reins in January and will remain in charge until the conclusion of the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries.
Kenya pick Pau
Paul ‘Pau’ Murunga has been appointed Head Coach of the Kenya men’s rugby sevens ahead of the 2018/18 HSBC World Sevens Series. It marks his second stint in charge following a spell in 2015/16 when he deputised for Benjamin Ayimba.
