In soccer, La Liga’s Real Madrid this week announced that Santiago Solari has been appointed as Head Coach on a permanent basis. The club were compelled to act as league rules stipulate that a caretaker coach can only be employed for 15 days and, with that point approaching, it has handed Solari a contract running until 2021.
Elsewhere in Spain, Miguel Cardoso is the new Head Coach of Celta de Vigo. His appointment comes a day after Antonio Mohamed’s dismissal.
From Spain to England, where Premier League side Fulham have made Claudio Ranieri their Head Coach. The Italian has signed a ‘multiyear’ contract to succeed Slaviša Jokanović.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Lee Nobes has taken the M62 motorway from reigning champions Manchester City to become Head of Physiotherapy at Liverpool. Nobes replaces Matt Konopinski, who departed last month, after 11 years of service at City.
Over to Italy, where Serie A side Udinese have made Davide Nicola their new Head Coach. He follows in the footsteps of Julio Velázquez, who was dimissed on Tuesday along with members of his coaching staff.
Staying in Italy, Giampiero Ventura has left his role as Head Coach of Chievo Verona after just four matches in charge. Ventura has been replaced by Domenico Di Carlo, who first served as Head Coach of The Flying Donkeys.
Across the Atlantic, Hue Jackson is back in the NFL having joined Marvin Lewis’ coaching staff at the Cincinnati Bengals. The former Browns and Raiders head coach will serve as Special Assistant to the Head Coach.
Switching to rugby union, Leon MacDonald has been promoted to Head Coach of the Auckland-based Super Rugby side the Blues. He replaces Tana Umaga, who becomes assistant to MacDonald.
From rugby union to rugby league, Brian McDermott is the new Head Coach of English Rugby Football League side the Toronto Wolfpack. The former Leaders speaker takes the reins from Paul Rowley at the Ontario-based team.
There has also been movement in cricket, where Championship club Glamorgan have appointed Matthew Maynard as Interim Head Coach. The move comes a month after previous coach Robert Croft left the side.
From south Wales to the Belarusian capital, where Andrei Sidorenko has replaced Gordie Dwyer as Head Coach of the Kontinental Hockey League’s HC Dinamo Minsk.
We round things up in Gaelic sport, where Cavan GAA have announced Andre Quinn as Head of Athletic Performance for their senior, underage, and underage development squads. Similarly, Kerry GAA have appointed Jason McGahan as Head of Athletic Development for their senior, underage, and underage development squads.
