Darren Henry is the Managing Director of British Cycling Ventures, the commercial arm of British Cycling and one of the most innovative commercial ventures in UK sport. He played a leading role in establishing the venture and now leads its next phase of growth, including securing strategic investment to accelerate its future development.
Since joining British Cycling five years ago, Darren has led one of the most significant commercial transformations in UK sport. As former Chief Commercial Officer and now Managing Director of British Cycling Ventures, he has overseen a 286% increase in commercial revenue, secured the landmark long-term partnership with Lloyds and leads the organisation’s commercial, events and consumer functions.
Prior to British Cycling, Darren held senior commercial leadership roles at Manchester United, Southampton FC, Harlequins, London Irish, IMG Golf and sports marketing agency Two Circles. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for delivering transformational growth, developing innovative partnerships and creating long-term commercial value.
The transformation at British Cycling has been recognised across the industry, with the organisation named Sports Organisation of the Year at the Sports Industry Awards, 2025. Darren was also recognised individually as Sport Sponsorship Champion 2025 at the UK Sponsorship Awards.
