Charlie recently joined Southampton Football Club as Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing fan engagement and commercial growth for both Saints’ men’s and women’s teams. His talented team span commercial strategy, communications, content, digital, marketing, sponsorship and venue sales. He also works with the club’s owners Sport Republic to build and bring together their global network of football clubs, player pathways and sports technology.
Before joining Saints, Charlie worked for The Jockey Club as their first group Chief Commercial Officer, where he was responsible for centralising the commercial functions of 15 racecourses and growing some of the UK’s most iconic sporting events – including Cheltenham Festival, the Grand National and the Derby.
Charlie’s background is in sport and media, with previous roles at The FA, England Rugby, ESPN and Disney. But he is most proud of some of the work he does outside of his day job, as a Trustee of London Sport and as part of the Sports Board of the UK’s leading children’s charity, the NSPCC. As the parent of a young family living in East London, Charlie brings his experience and network across professional sport to help fundraise and drive awareness for two unique causes that are close to his heart – helping disadvantaged communities to access sport and protecting the joy of childhood.
Charlie grew up in Hong Kong and then Bath, before studying English Language & Literature at Oxford University. He is the proud father of Jude, Ezra and Arrietty.
