Dino Ying is a pioneer in the esports industry. The Founder and CEO of VSPN started his career as a banker at Standard Chartered before entering the mobile games business as President of China Mobile Games Entertainment.
He founded Hero Games in 2015 and saw runaway success across Asia, most notably with “Crisis Action”. In 2016, he founded VSPN with the dream of creating a better esports experience by connecting the physical and virtual worlds. Dino has since led the company through a series of acquisitions and fundraises, including the B Round in October 2020 close to $100m, in which Tencent was the cornerstone investor. With the industry through its nascent phase, Dino continues to lead VSPN with a vision that will see esports on an equal footing with more traditional sports in the coming years.
VSPN has now produced over thousands professional esports matches across the world, and hosts many of the major leagues and tournaments in China including King Pro League (KPL) and Peacekeeper Elite League (PEL). In addition to production and talent management, VSPN owns and operates esports venues in Shanghai, Xi’an, Chengdu and Seoul, a business segment that has augmented the fan and player experience. Under Dino’s stewardship, and thanks to his tenacity during Covid-19, VSPN has gone from strength to strength and maintains a position at the forefront of the industry. In 5 years, VSPN has grown from 20 employees to over 1600 and has become the undisputed market leader in terms of tournament operation and commercialisation revenue.
