Fatma Al Nuaimi is the Communications Executive Director at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC). Al Nuaimi has been leading the department since January 2017, having first joined the organisation in 2013.
Fatma leads her team to communicate and engage with all local, regional and global stakeholders, effectively promoting the SC, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, and the State of Qatar. Her core objective is to keep football fans, media, the local community, wider football family, NGOs, foreign governments, and delivery partners informed of, and involved in, the SC’s journey to deliver the infrastructure and operations required for Qatar to host an amazing FIFA World Cup in 2022. More broadly, her focus is on showcasing how Qatar is using sport to change perceptions of an often misunderstood region.
In addition to her SC role, she is responsible for the communications of the Local Organising Joint Venture, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC (Q22), and Qatar as Host Country for the event. This not only includes all corporate communications, content development, media relations, digital media, fan and community engagement, and government and stakeholder relations – but also building and leading teams delivering the technical planning for Media Operations, Broadcasting, and Language Services during the FIFA World Cup.
Highlights in her role include delivering successful global milestones on the road to Qatar 2022, with tournaments including the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 and 2020, the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, as well as events such as the CAF Super Cup. She has also led teams to launch a number of new stadiums, including two during the height of the pandemic.
Before joining the Communications Department, Fatma was the SC’s Senior Legacy Manager and tasked with ensuring the tournament leaves a lasting positive impact on Qatar and the region long after 2022. In 2015, she created the Challenge 22 initiative, a competition designed to help unite, inspire and challenge the MENA region’s brightest minds by funding and supporting innovative ideas that could contribute to the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and beyond.
Fatma is an alumnus of the Global Shapers Community at the World Economic Forum, where she advises the Doha Hub, among other responsibilities. She holds an MBA from Qatar University and is an alumnus of the Qatar Leadership Centre.
