In a region dominated by older mentalities, Mamdouh Eid is revolutionizing and modernizing the Egyptian sports field today. At just 36 years old, he is the CEO of one of Africa’s biggest and most important Football Clubs, Pyramids FC.
Eid is also behind the careers of some of Egypt and Africa’s most successful athletes.
Driven by his passion for football and unwavering desire to continuously upgrade the sports field in his country, Eid started out as a basketball player for the Egyptian national team, a young dedicated football fan and a sports organizer during his undergraduate studies.
He graduated with a degree in architectural engineering, but then decided to take his love for football a notch further by completing a sports management degree in Switzerland.
He went on to gain invaluable expertise by joining one of the leading sports management companies in the world, SEM Group, where he learned more tricks of the trade and eventually held the highly prestigious position of Director of Football for the MENA region.
He then founded his own sports company in Egypt and worked on the management, sponsorship and marketing of Egyptian players in Europe in an unprecedented way. He also successfully advised several clubs on development in the process, including the legendary Ismaily Sporting Club and took the club back to the top of Egyptian football, helping them qualify to their first champions league in 30 years.
As the CEO of a large and successful football club, Eid manages an organization of more than 600 people, with direct responsibility of the sporting, administrative, commercial, media, accounting, fans, legal departments, and the highly valuable football team, made up of some of Africa’s biggest stars. Under his management the club reached the final and Semi final of the CAF Cup two years in a row and are currently competing in the same competition for the third consecutive time in their short history. He managed to help the club become the 6th most followed club on social media in Africa as well.
He is particularly invested in the club’s CSR activities – making sure Pyramids FC is constantly giving back to the community through different methods, and at the same time, leading by example. Eid’s efforts helped introduce the importance of social responsibility, which led to other football clubs in Egypt following suit. Eid has also introduced the first Amputee football team in Egypt through Pyramids FC, and now Egypt has a national team for the sport.
