Born in Segovia (Spain) in 1989, Oscar Mayo holds a degree in Sports Science, specialising in Sports Management and a Diploma in Physical Education from the European University of Madrid, as well as an Executive MBA from IEDE Business School.
He developed his career in Marketing and Business in Sports and Education industry, working as Manager for Spain and Portugal for Gympass and previously working as Director of Sports Centres for BeOne.
From 2012 to 2016 he held various management positions in the marketing department of Universidad Europea – Laureate International Education – and in his last two years he worked as Marketing Director at Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid.
Óscar Mayo began his career at LALIGA in 2017 as Executive Presidential Agent after joining the company through the LALIGA Global Network process. In December 2017 he was promoted to Director of International Development, adding Marketing and Commercial Management to his role in June 2020.
In May 2021 he was appointed Executive General Manager of LALIGA.
Since he joined LALIGA, Mayo has worked with a unique and evolving team, to build what is one of the most relevant sport leagues in the world, but also a holding with more than eleven companies that work in key industries such as education, media, audiovisual development and entertainment and technology among others. This development under Mayo’s work, has led the company to several milestones, being the latest the new brand positioning.
Thus, thanks to Mayo’s work, LALIGA has more than doubled its commercial revenues by managing the signing of key agreements that brought stability in the medium term and have made it the European league that generates the most in commercial agreements, as well as through innovative agreements and formats in the sports industry such as Port Aventura, the joint venture between LALIGA Tech and Globant and Joint Ventures in China, MENA and the United States, the latter with Relevent Sports, the basis for the signing of the largest international television agreements.
One of the most celebrated milestones, managed by Óscar Mayo, was the agreement signed with CVC, which contributed close to €2B to the competition, achieving a historic valuation of €25B for the competition and being one of the most important transactions of the year in Spain.
