Vikram is the Director of Strategy and Corporate Development at the ECB. He has a wide remit, overseeing major strategic projects, business planning, insights and innovation.
Vikram’s has a strong foundation from academia. He studied Economics at Cambridge University and is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School. A former professional sportsman who has played around the world as a cricketer, worked in a tech start-up as well as FTSE 50 organisation – Vikram has taken the lessons from the world of elite sport, academia and business and successfully transferred them into delivering impact for cricket.
Vikram joined the ECB in 2017 and in that time, he has built a strategy team that has played a key role in setting the strategic direction for the sport, harnessing the growth ambitions for cricket across a modern and diverse Britain. Vikram has had considerable impact in a relatively short space of time. He has been a key part of shaping the future of the sport, working with the Leadership Team to making it a reality through dedication, communication and exceptional delivery.
Vikram ran the project which created ‘Inspiring Generations’ – the 5-year game-wide strategic plan for cricket. This strategy was the first-time cricket had developed a whole game strategy and Vikram created a robust and exciting plan, which engaged all stakeholders in its creation. Further the strategy is the first-ever cricket strategy to be truly purpose led: to connect communities and to improve lives through cricket.
In establishing strategy as a way of working, Vikram is constantly thinking differently and encouraging others to embrace the uncertainty and opportunities that the future has in store (as well as helping to demystify strategy as a subject matter!)
His way of working is to create the circumstances for others to flourish. The role of Director of Strategy is sometimes more behind the scenes, equipping the Board, the executive management and the wider organisation with the knowledge and tools to effectively deliver. Vikram gives them these tools.
Vikram combines his drive and determination with a growth mindset, a coaching style of leadership and a passion for sport on and off the field. He is a popular and well-liked leader within the organisation who has delivered tangible change but also taken people with him.
