Zack Weiner is the Co-founder and President of Overtime, leading brand for the next generation of sports fans with over 50 million followers and 1.7 billion monthly video views. His vision and strategy have helped change the sports media landscape.
There is no bigger challenge or opportunity in sports than in attracting Gen Z and Millennials sports fans and having them invest in sports. No one knows this audience better or has demonstrated a more deft touch in the media than Zack.
Zack also leads a company culture that is inclusive and diverse, which is reflective of its tens of millions of fans. He has not only helped build that team, he has strengthened the culture around it. By listening to what their community asks for, Zack is at the helm as Overtime takes on incumbents in new and innovative ways.
At just 29, Zack is already one of the most influential players in disruption in the sports media industry. Partially because he is only 29 – and possesses remarkable social and collaborative skills – that he is able to figure out what types of content the next generation of fans actually want to see. Zack, Overtime and his partner Dan Porter know how to create that content, how to distribute that content, and how to use technology to do so at scale.
Prior to Overtime, Zack co-founded, and for five years, served as the CEO of The Sports Quotient, a sports site that offered deep sports analysis through the writing of hundreds of college students at more than 80 universities across the country. Because of SQ, many of those student writers, video analysts and podcasters have gone on to work for major sports companies including ESPN, Stats LLC and a variety of professional teams.
He was also a 3x Ivy League Chess Champion and still tries to play when he can!
Weiner graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics.
