Andrew serves as the Global Director of Football Sports Marketing at New Balance. He is responsible for the brand’s emerging presence and strategic vision in global football. His 15-year career at the brand has been marked by challenging the industry’s status quo, leading with a boutique and curated approach, and orienting with community purpose at the forefront of his approach.
Throughout his time at New Balance, he has led various global initiatives with diverse international teams across multiple sports and categories such as sales, marketing, and sports marketing, including four years as the Head of Sports Marketing in Latin America coinciding with the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
In recent years he has forged innovative partnerships with athletes including Brazilian wonderkid and Real Madrid star Endrick, Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling MBE, and Ballon d’Or runner-up and Socrates Award winner Sadio Mane to name a few. He has also led partnerships with prestigious international clubs such as Liverpool FC, AS Roma, FC Porto, Sao Paulo FC, FC Tokyo and more.
A differentiating aspect of Andrew’s role is driving global community initiatives through brand partnerships. This includes work with several non-profit organizations to support pitch refurbishments, product donations, and financial support, while supporting the launch of athlete initiatives including the Raheem Sterling Foundation, contributing to Sterling receiving an MBE from Queen Elizabeth in 2021 for his humanitarian efforts. Andrew naturally leads with genuine connections and a service-driven mindset, making community purpose a central and decisive factor when evaluating partnerships.
Andrew’s expertise is driving positive impact beyond New Balance, having recently been tapped to speak on the future of sports marketing at Soccerex, Brand Innovators, and Harvard Business School. In 2023, Andrew was recognized for his contributions by Brand Innovators as a 40 Under 40 leader.
Outside of his role, Andrew is a passionate advocate for mental health and youth development, advising several non-profit organizations in their missions to inspire youth to live healthier lives through sport. He is grounded by a mission to create positive change in sport communities around the world.
McGarty received his MBA in marketing and BS in advertising from Endicott College in Massachusetts. More recently he completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program “The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports” in 2022.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling, fantasy sports, skiing and spending time with his family including his wife, two young children and their dog Kennedy.
