His leadership has been crucial in enhancing the IPC’s digital footprint, ensuring the inspiring stories of Paralympic athletes reach a global audience. He also oversees the IPC’s partnerships with digital platforms and digital activations with Worldwide Paralympic TOP partners.
Under his guidance, the IPC’s digital platforms have thrived, with innovative strategies driving significant engagement. In recent years, the Paralympic Games digital channels have achieved record-breaking numbers, particularly during the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Paralympics, amassing unprecedented engagement and showcasing the powerful stories and achievements of Paralympians to a global audience.
In 2022, for the first time the Paralympics channels achieved the milestone of more than 1 billion views, and the Paralympics TikTok account has become a benchmark in the industry for engaging content, with now more than 4,4 million followers. The success of the account sparkled meaningful, thought-provoking conversations about how disability is portrayed on social media.
Born in Brazil, Jonas is a believer in the power of diversity to foster innovation. His journey is a testament to his dedication and the transformative impact of opportunities, having benefitted from scholarships for his academic performance and becoming the first member of his family to attend university.
Like many in this industry, Jonas has been a sports fan since his early years, a passion that has profoundly shaped his career and life. Starting as a sports journalist and later transitioning into sports management, Jonas has had the privilege of attending five Olympic and Paralympic Games and three FIFA World Cups, amongst other events.
Before his tenure at the IPC, Jonas played a key role at Twitter in Brazil, leading news partnerships during the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Prior to this, he worked with the organising committees of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
