As Chief Revenue Officer, Tom sits on the Executive Leadership Team at Football Australia, with responsibility for the organisation’s commercial rights and business development pursuits.
Tom is proud to work alongside and be supported by a brilliant team at Football Australia, which governs the game and is charged with its growth and development in Australia and beyond. Working within the governing framework of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation, Tom regularly deals with both domestic and international matters.
Key areas of Tom’s focus are broadcast and media rights, sponsorship, hospitality, merchandise, licensing, gaming, e-commerce, government and tourism hosting agreements and new growth projects.
The pinnacle moment in Tom’s career to date was the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™, a truly culture-shifting and record-obliterating tournament.
In his time at Football Australia, Tom has significantly expanded Football Australia’s commercial revenues, delivering many major partnerships with blue chip companies, including but not limited to Nike, Commonwealth Bank, Subway, Allianz, LEGO, Coles, Cupra, Mondelez, Nestle and Qantas, alongside major media rights relationships with Paramount ANZ as FA’s Official Broadcast Partner, as well as The Walt Disney Company in producing the acclaimed docu-series Matildas: The World At Our Feet.
Football Australia’s licensing programme has also doubled in licensees and product range under Tom’s leadership, providing Australian football fans with more ways to show their support for their national teams than ever before.
Prior to FA, Tom worked in London for 7 years at SRM, a boutique commercial rights agency working with clients as diverse as the Rolling Stones, World Surf League, Kelly Slater Wave Company, The Jockey Club, Surrey CCC, Williams F1, The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime and various finance, government and technology clients.
Tom also co-founded a networking group for Australians working in the sports industry in the UK – the Mullagh Group – which has grown to over 200 members and often hosts industry events in London. Tom now enjoys observing The Mullagh Group’s growth from a distance!
Before his time in England, Tom was a lawyer in Adelaide, South Australia and played Australian Rules football professionally and semi-professionally at Port Adelaide and Sturt Football Clubs. With those days well behind him, Tom now focuses on trying to keep up with his three young children.
