Dr Claire-Marie Roberts is a Chartered Psychologist, Chartered Scientist and a BASES Accredited Sport & Exercise Scientist who is the Head of Elite Development at the Premier League. She was a former international swimmer who moved into playing women’s football in the early 2000s representing Swindon Town Ladies FC and laterally, Aston Villa Ladies FC.
Her first career was in construction and civil engineering, but she re-trained as a sport and exercise psychologist in 2004. She has worked in various roles in men’s and women’s professional football for 15 years, and joined the Premier League in 2015 to advise on coach development initiatives. In addition to her work in coach development, she is a senior research fellow at the University of the West of England, a special advisor to Nike on women athletes, and a Non-Executive Board Director of UK Anti-Doping.
