Leaders Tech Startup Competition

The Leaders Sport Business Summit is the home of new ideas in sport and plays a key role in driving innovation and championing new talent across the industry. For the third year, the Leaders Tech Startup Competition provided a platform for the next generation of great and disruptive ideas from the sports technology sector to be identified, showcased and celebrated.

Nominations were sought from across the globe, using Leaders and One Team Collective’s extensive networks, as well as that of partners Sportradar. Following a vigorous vetting process, the most in-depth nominations form yet and input from two independent judges with venture capital and strategic investment backgrounds, five finalists were selected and asked to join us in London at the Sport Business Summit to pitch their product or service.

Each company was given four minutes on stage to tell the story of their business or demonstrate a product, in front of five leaders from across the sports industry – senior representatives from Sky Sports, Chelsea FC, and Minnesota Vikings – as well as competition presenting partner One Team Collective and sponsor Sportradar.

After an exciting and tense afternoon of pitching, including some probing questions from the panel of experts, the judges selected the two finalists: the Fan Controlled Football League and MiHiepa. After a final pitch and further interrogation, MiHiepa, a VR training and cognitive development tool for elite football, was announced as the winner.

Over the next 12 months MiHiepa will receive a package of support put together by Leaders and One Team Collective, including branding and access to Leaders events, access to senior industry figures and a place on Leaders’ Technology Advisory Board.
