Leading the UK music industry through a period of transformational change
What: The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) organises the BRIT Awards and The Mercury Prize, and co-owns the Official Charts. It’s the trade body for the UK music industry – its members include over 500 record labels, including independents and the likes of Universal Music UK, Sony Music Entertainment UK and Warner Music UK. Together, the BPI’s members account for 85% of all music sold in the UK. Jo Twist has been with the organisation since 2023, having previously run the trade body for UK games and interactive entertainment.
Why: The music industry has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last decade, fuelled by technology and the rise of streaming, with impacts across the live and recorded sectors. Jo Twist is at the centre of that change, and she’ll share her experiences of how to innovate and best navigate periods of dramatic change.
