Running a global community; creating an entry point for sports participation
What: Parkrun started back in 2004 with 13 runners and five volunteers. It’s grown into an international charity brand with over nine million registered parkrunners and over 2,500 weekly 5k and 2k events in 21 countries around the world.
Why: A charity viewpoint on how not-for-profit organisations can and should work with professional sports organisations – how the model linking grassroots/participation sport with the elite, professional side needs to evolve, plus how to build a thriving and passionate community and how it can effectively become your marketing arm.
