Google Pixel joined forces with Arsenal Football Club and Liverpool Football Club in the Summer of 2023. In their first year together, all three partners have looked to push the boundaries of partnership activation by leaning into Pixel’s focus on innovation.

Two collaboration areas were identified to provide value for football fans:

1. Co-creating pitchside match content 

With fan-shot match moments going viral, the three parties co-created ‘Shot on Pixel’ – a stream of official, pitchside content giving fans a unique window into the best match moments. The collaboration meant Google Pixel could demonstrate its industry-leading camera to fans, while Arsenal & Liverpool could grow their social reach amongst an audience wanting more in-depth view of player personalities.

The content captured on the Google Pixel has driven huge brand exposure & engagement, with iconic moments including:

• Virgil Van Dijk self-shooting the celebration of a last minute winner against Nottingham Forest
• Bukayo Saka jumping into the crowd after a winning goal against Manchester United

2. Creating increased visibility & fame for female players to drive interest in the women’s game 

Research by Google Pixel and the Women’s Sport Trust revealed that just 2% of football coverage in the UK is dedicated to the women’s game. This ‘visibility gap’ provided an opportunity to engage with fans desperate for greater quantity & higher diversity of women’s football content.

‘Pixel FC’ was created to combat this – a collective of next-gen creators and presenters dedicated to women’s football. Armed with the latest tech and training from Google Pixel, the creators received money-can’t-buy access to WSL fixtures, delivering incredible coverage across Meta and TikTok. Highlights included:

• Surprising amateur journalist 10-year-old Lily with the opportunity to cover Liverpool vs Man United from pitchside
• Supporting Adidas’ launch of the Arsenal Women’s away kit – the first women’s kit that is different to the men’s team
