As Vice President and Global Partner Management Group Lead at the NBA, David Brody leads key global marketing partnerships and plays a strategic role in driving the league’s international growth, with a focus on strengthening relationships with league partners around the world. He is also currently serving in an expanded capacity, overseeing commercial partnerships, business development, and league events across Europe and the Middle East. In this role, he leads the team responsible for structuring, negotiating, and executing the NBA’s merchandising, marketing and commercial partnerships, as well as delivering the league’s marquee events throughout the region.
With a strong focus on international strategy and business-to-business collaboration, Brody has played a pivotal role in expanding the NBA’s global partnership portfolio. A defining moment in Brody’s NBA tenure was transforming the league’s 25-year U.S.-only partnership with AB InBev into the league’s first-ever global beer partnership. This success laid the foundation for Brody to take on a broader leadership role within the NBA’s global partnerships team – working closely with his colleagues around the world to expand and evolve the NBA’s international sponsorship strategy.
Brody has led partnerships with brands such as Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, CarMax, Kia America, and Tissot, among others. He is a passionate advocate for the growth of the WNBA, having spearheaded several WNBA Changemaker partnerships – alliances with brands committed to driving positive change for the WNBA and women’s sports.
Before joining the NBA, Brody led sports marketing at American Express, managing the company’s partnerships with leagues, teams, venues, and athletes. Notably, he helped forge the company’s relationship with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, culminating in the 2016 “Shop Small for 2X Rewards” campaign. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Momentum Worldwide and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Brody holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Penn State University.
