What is your favourite sporting event attended?

The 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Vancouver was one of my favourite sporting memories. I was lucky enough to be at the game with my mom and best friend, and was able to watch the United States (where I am from) win the gold against Japan in a thrilling game. The USWNT had lost out to Japan in the 2011 final, so this was a revenge game. I was able to see Tobin Heath (my hometown hero) score, as well as a fantastic Carli Lloyd hattrick. It was a trip I will never forget!

A female leader who inspires you?

Julie Anne Quay – Julie Ann is an incredible entrepreneur and has built her brand in the fashion, culture and music space. I’ve known her since my teenage years, as I used to play football with her daughter (who is an inspiration in her own right!) and I’ve learned a lot from her ability to break the mould and take on new challenges. She has taken her business and branding acumen to sport as a Director at Barnsley Football Club and has championed inclusivity in the process. Not only has she developed the careers of world-renowned designers, but she has spearheaded the campaign for Barnsley’s women’s football club and has reached global levels through her recent work with FIFA. She is a force to be reckoned with!

How can organisations better support women to thrive in leadership roles?

First and foremost, there needs to be more opportunity for women to reach leadership roles, and that happens through investing in the education and experience of women in the organisation. Organisations can work to support women in leadership roles by asking for their perspectives, listening to their ideas, and ensuring that women have a seat at the top tables of all discussions. I am very grateful that my team at Deloitte promotes these ideals and gives the women on our team the necessary tools and platform to deliver our work at the highest level.
