The new forum is set to take place at The Sport Business Summit in London this October.
Leaders and The Esports Observer (TEO), two sister companies within newly formed The Leaders Group, will host The Esports Forum on Wednesday 9 October at The Sport Business Summit, part of Leaders Week London 2019. The half-day, dedicated esports forum will attract over 200 senior decision makers from technology, entertainment, sport, and esports, to explore this evolving space.
The event will consist of three 40-minute panels, breakout networking sessions, and conclude with networking drinks with the full The Sport Business Summit audience. The forum will explore key themes impacting the future of esports; including governance & regulation, stadia, partnerships, sustainability, fan engagement, commercialisation, and investment.
“Global esports revenues will grow to $1.1 billion in 2019, a year-on-year growth of +26.7%.” (Newzoo 2019)
The continued growth of esports has meant it’s become ever more relevant to The Sport Business Summit audience as global sponsor brands look to enter the space, rights holders weigh up if they should create their own teams, and industry service providers evaluate whether their products and services meet the needs of the esports community.
Leaders Founder and CEO James Worrall commented: ‘We’re delighted to announce The Esports Forum in partnership with our sister company TEO. Esports has featured on the main agenda at The Sport Business Summit for a number of years now, as our research shows executives from traditional sports crave knowledge about this rapidly developing space, and now we’re excited to deliver a dedicated stream for our attendees in London.’
TEO Co-Founder and CEO Chris Hana commented: ‘Esports is having an ever-increasing importance to the traditional sports world, especially when looking at investments, partnerships, and fan engagement. We are excited to make this topic a key focus at Leaders Week London in order to further bridge the gap between esports and sports executives, with the goal of fostering the sharing of knowledge and growth across both industries.’
David Harris, Managing Director, Guinevere Capital, Chris Overholt, President & Chief Executive Officer, OverActive Media Group, Ralf Reichert, Co-Chief Executive Officer, ESL and Chris Park, Chief Executive Officer, Gen.G esports are all confirmed speakers for the forum.
