In conversation with FA Wales' Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Integrity Manager

Jason Webber, FA Wales Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Integrity Manager, talks through how the organisation are striving to create meaningful change in football.

Webber was appointed by the FAW in June 2020 to help ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion were a mainstream in all of the body’s activities, having previously worked for ‘Show Racism the Red Card’.

During his tenure at FAW so far, Webber has been instrumental in moving the needle forward with the creation of the ‘Rainbow Wall’ – the new fans’ group created for Wales’ LGBTQ+ fans and more recently, led the governing body’s efforts to sign the Muslim Athlete Charter which aims to help players, staff, and spectators from Muslim backgrounds balance faith and sport.

We managed to hear a glimpse of that work, Jason’s personal passion and the initiatives the governing body are currently implementing, behind the scenes at Leaders Week London 2021.

In this short interview with Sky Sports Presenter Jaydee Dyer, Webber talks through:

  • The initiatives that FA Wales are undertaking to propel diversity within football.
  • How to take a strategy from concept to reality in order to create meaningful change.
  • The importance of leading in the ED&I space rather than waiting for things to happen.

This interview was recorded behind the scenes at Twickenham Stadium on 5 October 2021, prior to the Leaders Meet: Diversity Forum, in partnership with Facebook.
