Rose Read talks about the journey she has been on with Brighton and Hove Albion FC, where she is currently Head of People and Culture, discussing her ambitions and hopes for the club.
With a background in Human Relations, Rose joined Brighton in 2010, and was instrumental in the club’s move from Withdean to the Amex. The men’s team have also graduated to the Premier League within her tenure, meaning she has had to work with and through huge periods of change within the club. Whilst a lack of confidence may have held Rose back earlier in her career, she says her ‘own confidence has grown through doing initiatives that are going to benefit everybody else’, perfectly keeping within the community focused nature of Brighton.
Rose was chosen for this Chain Conversation by Lungi Macebo, COO of Birmingham City FC, with topics on the agenda including:
How the club embodied its values in the fight for the Amex stadium.
The difficulties of operating in the public eye, especially as a woman.
How to establish and embed a club culture within everything the club does.
How working with ‘Women in Football’ has helped grow her own confidence.
The importance of having a clear mission and ambition when setting out to achieve long term goals.
