The Sina SVP and Sina Sports GM on Article 46, opportunities in the Chinese market and Sina Sports’ current campaigns

Arthur Wei is the Senior Vice President of Sina and the General Manager of Sina Sports. Prior to joining Sina, Wei held various management positons at tech giant Lenovo during eight years with the company. Before moving to Lenovo, Wei spent 11 years with Hewlett-Packard, holding serval positions across the marketing and business development departments. He holds an MBA from Santa Clara University.

We caught up with Wei backstage at the inaugural Leaders Sport Business Summit in Beijing last year. In this short interview, Wei discusses how China’s sports industry was opened up when the government issued its ‘Article 46’ national strategic policy, explains the enthusiasm China has for sport and the opportunities the Chinese market presents. And finally, he elaborates on Sina Sports’ current campaigns and projects, in areas such as sports media, social platforms and the creation of their own 3×3 basketball league.
