Wednesday 10th March: Cinch’s Chief Customer Officer Robert Bridge and former World Surf League CEO Sophie Goldschmidt

The first edition of Leaders Live – our new, monthly livestreamed topical discussion show for the global sports industry – examined the challenged and disrupted sponsorship market, in the company of a bold new brand spender and a highly experienced commercial operator.

Online car dealer Cinch – a major disruptor in its own sector – has recently secured significant partnerships with the ECB, Northampton Saints, Tottenham Hotspur and the Queens Club Championships, as it seeks to build its brand in the UK. The organisation’s Chief Customer Officer, Robert Bridge joined us [at 09.20] to help paint a picture of where sponsorship fits into its wider plans, Cinch’s activation focuses and how data and customer insights will at the heart of all its sports investments.

Then Sophie Goldschmidt, former CEO at the World Surf League, dialled in [at 18.20] to provide a perspective from the rights-holder world on the state of the sponsorship marketplace. She explained why she’s optimistic about the market and, drawing on her various consulting roles with organisations across the industry, offered her thoughts on how should teams, leagues, events should be evolving – and in some cases revolutionizing – their approach to commercial partnerships.

Hosted by Leaders Head of Content David Cushnan and Editor-at-Large James Emmett on 10 March 2021. The next edition will be broadcast live on LinkedIn and Twitter on 31 March, at 15.00 BST.
