San Francisco 49ers’ President and Elevate Sports Ventures’ CEO Al Guido on recent partnerships, the scope of operation for Elevate and the reasoning behind the 49ers’ investment in English football.
Guido oversees all key business initiatives at the 49ers. Under his leadership, Levi’s Stadium, regularly billed as one of the most technologically advanced venues in the world, has hosted Super Bowl 50, Wrestlemania 31, Major League Soccer, multiple Pac-12 Championship Football games, Taylor Swift and international soccer giants Manchester United and Barcelona. In 2017, the stadium played host to the largest soccer tournament on U.S. soil since the World Cup with the Copa America Centenario and will host the prestigious College Football National Championship Game, in 2019.
Guido also concurrently serves as the CEO of Elevate Sports Ventures, which – launched in 2018 – works to bring comprehensive business solutions to the sports and entertainment industry that identify new revenue opportunities and bring new, innovative ideas to market.
We caught up with Guido backstage at the inaugural Leaders Week in New York in May. In this short interview, Guido discusses the launch of Elevate Sports Ventures, the organisations that the company has partnered with, including Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, and, more recently, Oak View Group. He also lifts the lid on the reasoning behind the 49ers’ decision to buy into the second tier of English football with an investment in Leeds United.
The 49ers President also took to the stage at The Sport Business Summit in October 2018; the flagship event in the Leaders Week London calendar.
