Having joined us in the previous instalment of the series, ex-professional footballer, now turned TV presenter Dion Dublin leads the way in continuing the Chain Conversation Series – this time interviewing Scottish reporter and presenter Eilidh Barbour.
Eilidh came to national attention when she was a pitch-side reporter during a first round FA Cup match in a special episode of Final Score, back in 2014. She’s since gone on to present the programme and in 2017 became the presenter of The Women’s Football Show. She capped-off the year by replacing role model and mentor Hazel Irvine as the main presenter of the BBC’s golf coverage; a milestone moment for Barbour in her sports broadcasting career to date.
More recently, she was part of the BBC presenter team for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019, and inked her name in a bit of broadcasting history when she was the presenter for the first Premier League game to be shown live on Amazon Prime Video last year.
The conversation covers:
• Eilidh’s introduction to sports broadcasting
• The importance of role models when breaking into the industry
• Preparedness, and its crucial role in presenting effectively
• Eilidh’s vision for the future of her career
• The people who’ve inspired Eilidh along the way
Chain Conversations is part of the Leaders Meet: Diversity Series, in partnership with Facebook.
The programme brings together leaders from a variety of backgrounds across professional sport to share their personal stories of leadership and to reflect on their own career journeys, pinpointing the peaks and troughs, the helps and hinderances along the way.
Every other week the previous interviewee will become the interviewer as we hear inspiring stories from aspiring and senior leaders within the professional sports industry.
The aim is to inspire, to energise, and to showcase why diverse thinking – and diverse opportunity – makes for better business across sport and beyond.
